Fear No More, Dear Women

Of all the things that we learnt as kids, being fearless never made it to our curriculum. Fear was pretty much our entire syllabus. Being God fearing, fear of low grades, fear of your parents for trying something different in your life, fear of what the society will think if you marry outside your caste or religion, fear of talking back to anyone who is physically stronger than you, fear of being raped, etc. It was instilled within us at a very young age, more so when you're born a girl. Rules are set along every step you take in your life and if you stray from these rules then you are simply inviting the wrath upon yourself.

The short film titled 'That Day After Everyday' was a gentle reminder of this life we are leading. This must-watch short film is the work of none other than Anurag Kashyap. Watch it, and you might just make you change everything you have been taught about fear, irrespective of your source. The story involves three women, who have been taught never to retaliate and remain docile in the face of danger. Their victory over this fear by standing up for themselves forms the rest of the story. Sandhya Mridul makes an unexpected appearance and delivers, as usual, with such suave. The closing scene is an amusing scene, an interesting twist that shows how empowerment can change your position in your own home. For those who are not particularly a fan of working in the kitchen, do watch.
